Stephanie L. Sugin, MD
Dr. Stephanie Sugin joined The Eye Care Group in 1992 as a specialist in medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous. She received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University’s Honors Program in Medical Education. She went on to graduate with honors from Northwestern University Medical School, after which she completed an ophthalmology residency at Northwestern. She went on to pursue advanced subspecialty training in vitreo-retinal diseases and surgery at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital where she was awarded a Heed Fellowship. Dr. Sugin is a board certified fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a fellow of the American Medical Association.
Dr. Sugin’s special areas of interest include, but are not limited to, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, retinal vascular diseases and uveitis. She has participated in clinical trials looking for new and novel ways to treat and prevent vision threatening disease in the retina. She is a member of the Connecticut Retina Association and the Atlantic Coast Fluorescein Angiography Club. She has served as the chairman of the department of ophthalmology at St. Mary’s Hospital.
